Authorities re-arrested a Gresham man accused of murder two days after Multnomah County deputies mistakenly released him from jail.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a U.S. Marshals task force arrested 26-year-old Ty Sage at a gas station off U.S. 101 in Florence.

Sage faces a second-degree murder charge in the December 2021 killing of 15-year-old Lowgunn Ivey inside the Columbia Trails apartment complex in Gresham.

In a Thursday statement, Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell said she acknowledged the “fear and trauma” the mistaken release caused to Lowgunn’s family. She said they deserved better.

“As Multnomah County’s sheriff, I am committed to making sure this does not happen again, that we learn from our mistakes, and that Lowgunn’s family can have justice,” Sherif
