Almost 16 months after Adam (AJ) Edhi was hit and killed while riding his bicycle in south Edmonton, police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 41-year-old man they believe was the driver of the vehicle.
Just before 4 a.m. on May 29, 2024, Edhi was riding his bike to his girlfriend’s house to spend time with her before the two ventured off to school when he was struck and killed. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of 34 Avenue, east of 48 Street.
On Thursday, police issued Canada-wide warrants for Abraham Alfonso Chavez, 41, of Edmonton, and charged him with manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death, hit-and-run causing death and unlawfully causing bodily harm.
