MINNEAPOLIS — A Winona man was convicted in federal court after confessing to mailing himself methamphetamine hidden inside plush stuffed animals.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Minnesota, Damien Duwjan Shade, 48, mailed himself meth in three packages from San Diego to two addresses in Winona in 2023. The three packages were all shipped from the same sender — "Trayvon Strange" — and were addressed to similarly fictitious people at the Winona addresses.
The packages were flagged as suspicious at the FedEx facility at the Rochester International Airport. Rochester Police and Homeland Security Investigations investigated.
