A new Spaceballs movie is in the works at Amazon MGM Studios. Mel Brooks announced he is returning to the sequel of the 1987 parody film with a cast full of all-star actors who are eager to bring the colorful characters back to life.

Brooks directed, cowrote and produced the first Spaceballs film, which also starred John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner and Joan Rivers.

News of the sequel was first announced in June 2024, with Brooks signing on as a producer. One year later, it was revealed that the acting icon would be reprising his role of Yogurt, a parody of the Star Wars character Yoda.
