Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on criminal charges of false statements and obstruction, days after Donald Trump appeared to urge his attorney general to prosecute him and other perceived political enemies.
The indictment makes Comey the first former senior government official to face prosecution in connection with one of Trump’s biggest grievances: the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
