CARSON COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - Texas Department of Public Safety officials seized about 60 pounds of meth during a traffic stop in Carson County on Wednesday.

DPS says just after noon, a trooper stopped a Jeep Cherokee that was driving east on I-40 near Amarillo.

During the traffic stop, DPS says the trooper found multiple plastic-wrapped bundles of suspected meth inside the car’s fuel tank.

DPS Criminal Investigation Division agents and DEA special agents assisted with the investigation.

Officials say 28-year-old Alexis Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was booked into the Randall County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.

DPS says the drugs were being taken from Texas to Oklahoma.
