DECORAH, Iowa — Sophia Campbell, the Watershed and Source Water Protection Coordinator at the Decorah Fish Hatchery, has been honored with the Iowa Watershed Coordinator of the Year Award by the Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance.

Campbell's work with the Yellow River Headwaters Project stood out, as more than 20 miles of stream have been protected from livestock access, and over 3 miles of streambank stabilization have reduced nearly 5,000 tons of sediment runoff annually. Additionally, she increased cover crop usage from less than 1% to over 30% in the watershed.
