BOSTON — Bill Chisholm thinks Boston should have a WNBA team.
Beyond that, the new Celtics owner chose his words carefully about the league’s future in the city and his involvement, but it’s on his radar.
“First of all, I think Boston should have a team. It’s the best sports city in the country,” Chisholm said. “This is the birthplace of basketball.”
The NBA approved the majority sale of the Celtics from Wyc Grousbeck to Chisholm last month. Chisholm met with the media for the first time as the new principal owner of the Celtics on Thursday.
Earlier this summer, the Connecticut Sun, which plays in the smallest market in the WNBA, announced its interest in selling the franchise.
