OMAHA, Neb. —

Elkhorn South High School is hosting a "Gold Out" football game Thursday night at Elkhorn Stadium to raise money for three local families impacted by pediatric cancer.

Oliver Malatek, a fifth-grade student from Skyline Elementary, was diagnosed last October with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past year.

"He didn't go at all after last October for all the fourth grade. He missed the entire year because there's just so many appointments and so many illnesses. But I think he's close to getting back," Oliver's mom, Jenny Malatek, said.
