Ken and Lori Bennett’s walks in Nanaimo are hitting differently now, with every click of her replacement metal cane since her treasured wooden cane, a priceless family heirloom, was stolen from the Nanaimo couple on Tuesday.
“I felt very violated, and a little choked. I’m getting choked up talking about it because it did mean a lot. It was something that my mom gave to Lori, and it meant a lot that she would give that to her,” Ken Bennett, told CHEK News on Thursday.
“A lot of people that passed us by said ‘Oh what a lovely cane. Where did you get, then we told them the story’,” said Ken’s wife, Lori Bennett.
