Former state Del. Sue Hecht died Tuesday, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and advocacy for women, according to several people who knew her. She was 77.

Hecht, a Democrat, served in the House of Delegates representing Frederick County from 1995 to 2003 and again from 2007 to 2011.
