Residents of a quiet suburban street are reeling after a group of unknown intruders allegedly stole cash and jewellery in a violent robbery.

The alleged home invasion was reported to police just after midnight on September 26 when a Triple Zero call was made from the home on Sunny Place, St Johns Park in Sydney's western suburbs.

Police were told that four people, two women and two men, were home when the unknown men forced entry.

"We believe there are up to six offenders, all dressed in dark clothing," NSW Police Acting Inspector Benjamin Morgan said.

A 56-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were restrained and their home was ransacked, police said.
