SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Brown Upper Elementary in Springhill is stepping up safety for its youngest students, thanks to a new stretch of sidewalks.

Students at Brown Upper Elementary School can now walk to and from school safely, thanks to a new sidewalk that has been put in place.

"So each day in the morning and the evening, we supervise students as they walk across through our playground to the other side so that students have a safe entering and exit of the school," Said principal Tessa Flournoy

The Webster Parish School Maintenance Fund and the school board funded this project.

Superintendent Johnny Rowland says that after several conversations on behalf of the school board, they were able to come to an agreement to welcome the project.
