HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) - People in Hutchinson left their mark on the city’s new YMCA on Thursday by signing the final structural beam. Unlike most, this beam won’t be hidden behind sheetrock; it will remain visible inside the building.

"The neat thing about it is it's going to actually be visible in the new YMCA, so it will not be covered up. So that's something that everybody in Hutchinson that can be a part of," David Foster, the branch director for the Hutchinson YMCA, said.

The YMCA is set to open in 2026, and Foster said the goal is to create a space for everyone.

"When people are at the YMCA, it doesn't matter race, religion, color, creed, any of that, everybody's the same and can have access to the same programs and same amenities and really a place where the community can come
