PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety announced this week it will launch a SAFE Alert program to replace the state’s Silver Alert system.

The new program is designed to expand the criteria of an alert and to help find missing persons safely, according to a Thursday news release.

How new Arizona alert system works?

The new SAFE Alert program will use multiple communication channels to help find missing persons. The alert will be issued to the public when persons go missing, including seniors and persons with conditions or disabilities.

The system will use media and public safety public channels to release information when a person goes missing under certain circumstances.
