KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. –The Kanawha County law enforcement training facility is set to receive significant upgrades.

The County Commission voted Thursday afternoon to move forward with the roughly $2 million project.

Kanawha County Sheriff Joey Crawford gave a presentation before the commission voted.

Crawford said parts of the shooting range are dangerous due to a slip, with concrete hanging over it that is at risk of collapsing. He also noted ongoing drainage issues at the facility that they hope to address as part of the upgrades.

Crawford said this facility is heavily used.

“We have over 40 law enforcement agencies use that facility, it’s to a point where we have to have somebody control the scheduling, make sure that we have people available, people there,” Crawford said on 580 Li
