BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - Arconic Corporation is celebrating the commissioning of a new facility.

Thursday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the commissioning of a new High Purity Aluminum facility at its Davenport Works plant.

The new High Purity Aluminum (HPA) facility will double onsite capacity for producing HPA eliminating the need for Arconic to import HPA from a foreign smelter, a company spokesperson said. The project was supported by an award of $45.5M from the U.S. Department of War in 2023, utilizing Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III authorities.

HPA s a critical input material for making aluminum sheet, plate and extrusions needed for key aviation, space, and defense applicants.
