COLUMBUS, Ohio - - Ohio Republicans have introduced a bill to designate October 14 as “Charlie Kirk Memorial Day.”
Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, died earlier this month after being shot while speaking at a college event he organized on Utah Valley University’s campus.
“His leadership has inspired countless young individuals to take a stand for freedom,” Mahoning County Republican Sen. Al Cutrona said in a statement. “This day will serve as a reminder of the legacy he has built in shaping the future of our great nation.”
Senate Bill 271 mirrors others introduced in state legislatures across the country, all of which have chosen Oct. 14 because it was Kirk’s birthday.
At the national level, House Republicans are advancing their own tributes.
