The Toronto Maple Leafs showcased a dominant performance against the Montreal Canadiens, winning 7-2 in a preseason game at the Bell Centre on Thursday night. The standout players for the Leafs were Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz, who each scored two goals. The duo, along with Easton Cowan, combined for a total of eight points.

Bobby McMann also contributed to the score, netting his second goal in as many games. Matias Maccelli recorded two assists, marking his second consecutive game with multiple assists. Defencemen Matt Benning and Ryan Tverberg added to the scoring, further solidifying the Leafs' offensive display.

In goal, Dennis Hildeby played the entire game for Toronto. Thanks to a strong defensive effort from his teammates, he faced minimal pressure, with the Canadiens managing only 13 shots on goal. Both of Montreal's goals came during power plays.

Laughton not only scored twice but also provided two assists. Lorentz and Cowan each contributed with one assist. Cowan's performance stood out, especially against a Canadiens lineup that featured many of their top forwards.

However, the game was not without its setbacks for the Leafs. Defenceman Marshall Rifai suffered an upper-body injury in the first period and did not return to the ice.

The Maple Leafs and Canadiens are set to face off again on Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena as the preseason continues.
