SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City is celebrating the end of a painful construction project in Sugar House.
For the last two years, the city has been renovating the area in Sugar House around 1100 East 2100 South, which shuttered several businesses there . Now the work is done, and Salt Lake City is throwing a party to commemorate.
During a press conference Thursday morning, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, other city leaders and Sugar House businesses expressed their joy that the 2100 South Project is done. The area had been under construction since 2023.
Crews widened the sidewalks and replaced the roads and underground sewer lines, but the renovations took a toll on Sugar House businesses; some were even forced to close. It’s something the city is painfully aware of, but said const
