KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Knox County leaders said a much-needed update to the county’s development rules is underway.
The Unified Development Ordinance, or UDO , is designed to streamline and modernize approximately 800 pages of regulations that have guided development across Knox County for nearly 40 years, leaders said.
Leaders have asked neighbors for their opinions about the UDO, as well as other assessments leaders have made throughout the Advance Knox process, at four community meetings across the county this week.
County Commissioner Rhonda Lee, who attended a session at Powell Middle School on Thursday evening, said consultants reviewing the regulations have found redundant rules that confuse residents and developers. She added that the county's development regulations were made w
