Duluth East earned a sweep the hard way on the volleyball court on Thursday night, taking down Bemidji 30-28 in the third set after taking the first two 25-16, 25-22.

Ella Tormondsen led the way for the Greyhounds with 14 kills, while Piper Witzman added 12.

Chelsea Zentz posted 37 assists.

The Tigers took the second set, 25-18, off the defending WIAA Division 3 state champion and No. 2-ranked Bears on Thursday, Sept. 25 in Maple, but nothing more.

Genna Kreuser piled up 23 digs, while Shelby Hessel posted 15 kills and 13 digs. Addie Harms and Savanna Moore finished with five kills each, from some of Finley Peterson’s 20 assists.

The hosts kept getting stronger on Thursday night, Sept. 25, winning each of their three sets against the visiting Bombers by wider margins.
