GRAND FORKS — The UND volleyball program opened Summit League play Thursday night by stopping a long losing streak to South Dakota.

UND beat South Dakota 25-23, 25-20, 15-25, 26-24 to end a 15-match losing streak to USD dating back to the 2015 season.

Fighting Hawks senior Paige Barber recorded a career-high 23 kills. Barber also added two blocks, two service aces and nine digs. Barber now has five consecutive matches of at least 15 kills

UND trailed the decisive fourth set 24-22 before rattling off the set's final four points.

A Barber kill tied the match at 24-24. The winning point came on a service ace from senior Izzie McCormick, who finished with five aces.

UND and USD finished with similar attacking numbers but the Hawks held an edge in service aces 10 to seven.
