US President Donald Trump on Friday announced a fresh slew of tariffs on imported commodities, including pharmaceutical products and trucks. These new set of tariffs imposed by the United States administration are set to kick in from October 1.
Posting on his social media network Truth Social, Trump announced these tariffs were imposed for “national security reasons” and to save American companies from “unfair outside competition.”
“We have begun to see goods prices showing through into higher inflation ,” Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned in a recent news conference, adding that higher costs for goods account for “most” or potentially “all” of the increase in inflation levels this year.
