US President Donald Trump said he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank, offering assurances that he’d block the move that Arab leaders in the region have opposed.

Speaking in the Oval Office while signing unrelated executive orders, Trump said,” I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. It’s not going to happen,” he told reporters. “There’s been enough. It’s time to stop now.”

This comes as Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the White House on Monday, his fourth trip to Washington since Trump’s second term began in January.

Israel’s current government opposes Palestinian statehood and supports eventual annexation, a position that has drawn alarm from Arab states.
