Verona and Middleton girls volleyball are battling for position in the Big 8 conference, right behind first-place Janesville Craig.

It's a friendly rivalry, but it is still a rivalry between the Wildcats and Cardinals, and Thursday night's installment was the first time the two teams played since Verona knocked Middleton out of the playoffs last year.

In the end, Verona swept Middleton 3-0 to move ahead in the conference standings, behind a standout performance from outside hitter Macy Stremlow.
