You never forget your first.

For Windsor Spitfires’ rookie first-round pick Johnny McLaughlin, the wait lasted less than three games.

The 16-year-old McLaughlin, who played just two games a year ago due to a knee injury, scored his first two OHL goals to help the No. 2-ranked Spitfires to a 4-0 win over the Sudbury Wolves on Thursday at the WFCU Centre.

“It feels great,” said McLaughlin, who buried his own rebound. “All the boys were really happy and just the support has been amazing. Just a great pass by (defenceman Carson Woodall). He really set that play up and stuck with it. A really cool moment.”
