ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Region 1 Planning Council has opened its expanded office space in downtown Rockford, showcasing its role as a liaison between local and federal governments.

The council, which focuses on long-term solutions for the Stateline area, held an open house to provide community members and stakeholders an inside look at their operations and projects.

"Sometimes our work can seem a little abstract," said Jason Holcomb, director of Community Impact for R1 Planning Council. "We want people to have the opportunity to come in and see not only the physical space, but to meet the people that do the work."
