Congress MP Shashi Tharoor delivered a witty comeback after finding himself at the receiving end of a jibe from columnist Suhel Seth.

On X, Seth shared a picture of himself from Oxford University, the site where the Oxford English Dictionary was created, and joked that the dictionary was Tharoor’s “sole mate.”

“Greetings my dear @ShashiTharoor from Oxford University: behind me is the building where the Oxford Dictionary (your sole mate) was created,” Seth wrote while tagging the MP.

Tharoor, known for his sharp wit and love for language, responded with a layered play on words. He said that if the dictionary was indeed his “sole mate,” then it meant he walked in “well-defined shoes.” He added that such a partnership was still preferable to being “barefoot in banality.”
