SHREVEPORT, La. – A mass shooting Sunday where two men died and six others were shot happened at a vacant house picked by social media party promoters, Shreveport police said.
It's not the first time Apeland has hosted such an impromptu gathering. Others turned violent, too, police said.
In that crowd Sunday night was a man Shreveport police say is wanted in connection to that shooting. The suspect, Rasson Smith Jr., 21, is considered armed and dangerous.
Cpl. Chris Bordelon said Apeland, a loosely organized group of rappers and social media promoters, set up the party at the abandoned house on Poland Street in the Allendale neighborhood. More than 150 people showed up.
"Officers have responded to some of these events before and shut them down," Bordelon said.
