Gerald Ryan can’t be sure if Skyhook will run a strong 1400m in the group 1 Golden Rose on Saturday, but the Rosehill trainer is certain he could not have the Written Tycoon colt in any better shape to try.

Skyhook put in an eye-catching finish for third in the group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) two weeks ago, running strongly through the line behind the Godolphin pair of Tempted and Beiwacht, to show his potential for a longer target.

It followed a brilliant effort first-up from the last season’s Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) winner to carry 60.5 kilograms to victory in the listed Rosebud (1100m) on heavy ground. He was a $6 Sportsbet chance for Saturday from gate five in the nine-horse field.
