The counting of votes for the 5th Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) general elections is underway on Friday amid tight security. The counting began at 8 am, with postal votes being counted first. The voting was held on September 22.
“The counting is going on smoothly. The counting of postal ballots has started. Adequate security is deployed. We are confident that there will be no problem and everything will be peaceful. No one other than election agents has been allowed,” Kokrajhar District Commissioner and Returning Officer Masanda Pertin said.

A total of 326 candidates contested the BTC elections for 40 seats spanning across five districts – Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur and Udalguri under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
There are 12 constituencies in the
