The Teapot Trophy is one of the most unlikely pieces of silverware in Edinburgh sport with an intriguing background.

Recovered from a rubbish skip but now polished to perfection with appropriate engravings it is keenly contested by the two leading Golf Croquet clubs in the capital – Lauriston Park and Meadows.

This year’s encounter took place under blue skies and against the stunning backdrop of the River Forth as Lauriston hosted.

And with competition as spectacular as the views four pairs from each club battled it out for four hours.

Edinburgh led for most of the match and only by the fourth and final round did the Meadows manage to draw level with the eventual result being an eight-all draw. Having won the trophy in 2024 this meant that Meadows retained the coveted prize for another
