The Allahabad High Court has dealt a major blow to Rahul Gandhi, dismissing his petition challenging a Varanasi special court order that had accepted a revision petition against him over controversial remarks he made about the Sikh community last year.

The dismissal of the Congress leader's plea will now pave the way for the revision petition to proceed in the Varanasi MP/MLA court.

On July 21, 2025, the Varanasi MP/MLA Court had admitted a revision petition against Rahul Gandhi. This order was challenged in the High Court.

The case stems from remarks Rahul Gandhi made during his three-day US tour, where he allegedly stated that Sikhs in India are not allowed to wear turbans or the kara (steel bracelet) and are not permitted to enter gurdwaras.
