A dramatic rescue operation was sparked after four individuals were spotted entering a mine, moments before a fire erupted . The nine-hour search mission started when the group was seen venturing into the disused quarry, shortly followed by smoke billowing out. ‌

Emergency services rushed to Elm Cross Yard in Bradford on Avon, Wilts, at 7pm on Wednesday following reports of smoke emanating from the tunnels. Back in 2018, police discovered an estimated £1million worth of cannabis at the site, marking the largest haul of its kind at the time. ‌
