United Nations/New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The G4 countries of India, Japan, Germany and Brazil, underscored that the expansion of membership of the UN Security Council in both permanent and non-permanent categories is essential to the world body’s reform, and that this position is supported by a majority of the UN Member States.

This was affirmed during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the G4 countries, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Mauro Vieira, Foreign Minister of Brazil, Johann Wadephul, Foreign Minister of Germany, and Iwaya Takeshi, Foreign Minister of Japan, on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Thursday.
