BENTON, La. (KSLA) - The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed a tornado touched down in Benton on Sept. 24.

Just minutes before 1 p.m., a brief EF-1 tornado touched down in south Benton near Lost River Estates, NWS officials say.

The tornado blew down a fence in a home’s backyard on the south side of the neighborhood. It also snapped a tree across Palmetto Road.

Then, the tornado crossed the road, where it snapped large tree branches at the entrance of the Bossier Parish Schools Maintenance Palmetto Warehouse, NWS says.
