East Cleveland, which 2020’s Census found had 13,792 residents, a count that has since dropped, has been plagued with corruption and is achingly poor. Nov. 4’s mayoral election offers East Clevelanders a chance to reset their city’s compass, something that can’t happen soon enough.

And Sandra Morgan, 63, who spent months as acting East Cleveland mayor this year after former Mayor Brandon King’s suspension during his corruption case, is well-positioned to deliver change.
