ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) -- The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is showcasing its animal transport program with the arrival of Bandit, a dog transferred from a rural rescue partner facing overcrowding. The program helps give animals in underserved areas a better chance at adoption.

The league said Bandit and others like him are now available for adoption in Alexandria. The group will also host its annual Paws in the Park festival on Oct. 12, featuring pet-friendly activities and adoption opportunities.
