DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- A deputy and K-9 are recovering after a crash in Miami County Thursday afternoon.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office released an update on the condition of two of their own, each of whom sustained injuries after a being struck by another vehicle.

The crash occurred on County Road 25A near the Farrington interchange as the deputy and K-9 were sitting in a parked police cruiser. As the cruiser was stationary, an unidentified vehicle swerved off the right of the roadway and struck it.

The vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The two inside the police cruiser were transported to a hospital and veterinary clinic respectively.
