A Delhi court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who is already facing multiple allegations of sexual harassment and financial misconduct. The bail plea was in connection with case filed by the Sri Sharada Institute Trust of the Sringeri Math, accusing Chaitanyananda Saraswati of large-scale fraud and misappropriation of funds.

The Trust alleged that Chaitanyananda committed forgery, impersonation, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and diverted money belonging to the Sri Sharada Peetham. A preliminary audit in December 2024 flagged serious financial irregularities, including the creation of a parallel trust in 2010 — Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research Foundation Trust.
