El Comité de Longmont, a nonprofit serving community members from all walks of life, is looking back on 45 years of important work.

El Comité was founded in 1980 after two Latino men were shot and killed by Longmont police. Today, the nonprofit supports Longmont’s Latino and immigrant community members by offering legal assistance, translation services and citizenship classes.

On Sunday, the Longmont Museum will host “The Ongoing Struggle for Justice: 45 Years of El Comité de Longmont,” a discussion about the organization’s history and its enduring relevance. The free event will run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the museum’s Stewart Auditorium, at 400 Quail Road.
