The founder of Edinburgh Street Stitchers, a group that teaches people how to repair their old clothes in the hope of reducing textile waste, has been announced as a finalist for the BBC's Make a Difference Awards.
Mary Morton, 68, of Powderhall, was volunteering with the SHRUB Coop in her retirement and was running a weekly garment repair drop-in sessions and decided she would love to set up an Edinburgh branch for the Street Stitching movement - a mending movement that hopes to bring awareness to the impact of fast fashion.
Mary told Edinburgh Live: "I was a sewing volunteer with the SHRUB Co-op, which is a zero waste charity here in Edinburgh, and we were running weekly drop-in garment repair sessions. Most of the people who were coming along were already aware of the enormous climate
