When it comes to jewelry, I’m a minimalist. I have my go-to gold necklace, gold hoops, and rings. Occasionally, I’ll swap for something nicer if the look calls for it, but I’m a creature of habit. However, I’ve been compelled to step out of my comfort zone.

First, it was at Ralph Lauren: Oversize silver shell pendants on a leather cord accented sheer pieces and knit swimwear. Then I saw more necklaces at Michael Kors. Instead of chains and hoops, the brand accessorized airy button-downs, plunging necklines, and sweaters with oversize pouches and wallets on leather cords. At Coach, models wore leather pouches over leather and denim vests. When Reformation launched its jewelry line just last week, cord necklaces were in abundance.
