TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — At the Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse Friday morning, Daniel Callihan pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of Callie Brunett, a mother from Loranger, and her 4-year-old daughter, Erin. Prosecutors have dropped the death penalty, and Callihan will get life in prison without parole.

“In the end, it’s a good result. Mr. Callihan will be in prison for the rest of his life. Also, the Brunett family is pleased with the result as well, and that’s really important to us,” District Attorney Scott Perrilloux told reporters outside of the courthouse.
