NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Daniel Callihan, who admitted to killing a mother and daughter in Loranger in June 2024, has pleaded guilty to state charges in a Tangipahoa Parish courtroom on Friday morning (Sept. 26).

Callihan killed 35-year-old Callie Brunett and her 4-year-old daughter, Erin, after allegedly kidnapping them along with Erin’s 6-year-old sister.
Callihan’s kidnapping charges were dropped, but as part of the plea deal, he will serve back-to-back life sentences with no possibility of parole.
However, some Loranger residents, including James Estrade, say that punishment isn’t enough.
