Peterborough City Council will pay compensation to a theatre company for the impacts caused by roof repair works. Urgent and essential replacement works to the Key Theatre's roof began earlier this year due to the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC).

The work was due to be completed by mid-October, but 'unforeseen complexities' meant the theatre would stay closed until the new year.

Landmark Theatres, which operates the Key Theatre under a lease agreement with the council has been forced to relocate or delay planned performances, including moving the 2025 Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime to the New Theatre on Broadway. The company currently operates both premises.
