Speeders in Coaldale are getting a break on paying their tickets, thanks in part to another Canada Post labour disruption.

The southern Alberta town’s council voted Monday to suspend its municipal photo radar program for the rest of the year and convert a “growing number” of tickets into warnings instead of fines.

In a news release earlier this week, the municipality attributed council’s decision to the ongoing negotiations between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, as well as its own ongoing lockout of Alberta Union of Provincial Employees .

On Thursday, the union declared a nationwide strike following the federal government announcing sweeping changes to Canada Post.
