A student at a Golden Valley school was arrested this week after threatening a classmate with a gun.

The incident was reported around noon Tuesday at Highview Alternative School, located at 2400 Sandburg Ln.

Golden Valley Police Department says officers and Hennepin County deputies responded, and recovered a gun before taking the juvenile suspect into custody.

"Juveniles having access to guns and bringing them to school threatens the safety of the entire school community," said Assistant Chief Alice White.

"This criminal behavior cannot be taken lightly, especially in our current climate."

It marks the latest in a series of weapons incidents or threats involving Minnesota schools in the month since the mass shooting at Annunciation Church and School in Minneapolis.
