Myles Street in Barrington looked more like Myles Pond this week.
According to Barrington Department of Public Works Director Alan Corvi, heavy rain and a blocked stormwater drain pipe resulted in a flooding issue on Myles Street on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 24 and 25. The quiet side-street that runs off Washington Road near the intersection with the East Bay Bike Path was impassable.
Workers from the DPW worked until late in the afternoon on Wednesday and were back on scene Thursday. Corvi said the issue appeared to be a clogged drain pipe that is forcing water back into the roadway. He said the clog is located far behind two homes on Myles Street, making it hard to access for any type of heavy equipment. Corvi said he was calling in a company that had specialized
